About Us

Hello. My name is Joe Mizereck. I am the founder of GrantsAlert.com, which I started in 1996 to help America's teachers and schools. As a former high school social studies teacher, I know the challenges teachers face.

Over the years I have had numerous requests by those who follow GrantsAlert to develop a similar service for health related grants and funding opportunities. I really did not have the time to care for two sites so I put that off. In the past few months we have rebuilt GrantsAlert.com and relaunched it…and it is doing fine. Now I have the time needed to work on both sites so I decided it was time to give all those folks what they want---HealthGrantsAlert.com.

Our nation is in a financial mess. And GrantsAlert.com is focused on helping teachers, principals, schools, PTO groups and school districts across America find ways to fill the gaps created by state, federal and local budget cuts. But, our nation is also facing some extraordinary challenges with the health of our youth. Our children are getting heavier and heavier. And we all know the negative consequences of this trend on the physical health and self-esteem of our nation’s young people, as well as the financial burden that the obesity epidemic is placing on our medical care system. Our schools and communities need help to make the necessary contributions to our nation’s struggle against the obesity epidemic. My hope is that HealthGrantsAlert.com will serve as a key source of funding intel to help school and community leaders meet the health challenges they face.

Most of my life's work has been in the area of improving education and helping our children become more successful and healthy students, people and citizens. These are among my passions and reasons why you will find that my websites are focused on helping the K-12 sector and their communities. From building running programs to recognizing outstanding teachers to finding ways to secure a white-board for a classroom, I am here to help.
